Sofapaka striker Onyango seals move to Tusker FC

Onyango, who scored 15 goals for Sofapaka last season, signed a two-year contract with the Brewers.

Sofapaka striker Jacob Onyango has signed for Tusker ahead of the 2024/25 FKF Premier season.

Onyango, who scored 15 goals for Sofapaka last season, signed a two-year contract with the Brewers.

“Known for his clinical finishing and ability to create scoring opportunities, Onyango brings a new dimension to our attacking lineup.

"His versatility and strong work ethic align perfectly with Tusker FC’s commitment to excellence both on and off the pitch,” the club said in a statement.

“I am thrilled to join Tusker FC, a club with a rich history and one which fights for titles every season. When I analysed the options on my table, I knew this was the best move for my career. I look forward to contributing to the team’s success and achieving our collective goals at the end of the season,” said an excited Onyango.

 “Jacob is a talented striker with the ability to make a significant impact in our squad. His skills and experience will no doubt strengthen our attacking options as we aim for success in the upcoming season,” Tusker FC interim coach Charles Okere said.

At the same time, Tusker FC will play three build-up matches during their pre-season tour of Uganda. 

The tour is scheduled for August 4-11. The tour aims at strengthening the team’s cohesion and readiness for next season. Tusker will play Ugandan local sides including  NEC FC, Kitara and Lugazi.

They will start their pre-season on August 6 with a match against NEC before facing Kitara the next day. Tusker will conclude their pre-season with an encounter against Lugazi FC.

 “These matches promise to be intense and competitive, providing invaluable opportunities for our players to fine-tune their skills and tactics under match conditions,” the club added in a statement.

 “We extend our gratitude to our hosts in Uganda for their hospitality and cooperation in organising these matches.
