Everything is smooth in Gor Mahia camp, ahead of their departure to Nigeria tomorrow, for the invitational Coal City tournament in Enugu.

Contrary to reports that the players were on a go slow demanding a share of the FKF premier League price money,  and threatened to boycott the tournament.

KO’gallo were awarded Sh5 million for winning their 21st league title, on top of Sh10 million in TV rights money courtesy of Azam TV and Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).

Talking to the Star on the phone, an official who didn’t want to be mentioned cleared the air, saying everything is alright with players ready to board for Enugu tomorrow afternoon.

“There was a small dilly dally in training for only one day, but the issue was resolved by the management with all the players training on Tuesday Morning at M-pesa Foundation Academy," said the insider.

The unrest reportedly began last week and extended to Monday morning with only junior players and new signings showing up for gym sessions.

Our source, however, said the issue touches on players’ contracts, which cannot be discussed further as it is against the club’s policy, more so the club management sorted the issue that was blown out of proportion.

Meanwhile, new Gor Mahia head coach Leonardo Neiva who had a poor run in the Cecafa tournament two weeks ago in Dar es Salaam, says he is impressed by his players and expects a better outing in Nigeria.

KO ‘Gallo  who fell in the group stage has no new injury scares and have been boosted by the return of FKF player of the year Austin Odhiambo who missed the Cecafa tournament while chasing a deal to Belgian side KAA Gent

Gor also have at their disposal new signings Alphonce Omija, Samuel Kapen Shariff Sirengo, Congolese striker Gedeon Bendek, Ugandan midfielder Chris Akena and Ghanian Enock Morrison.

Gor Mahia  are guaranteed an appearance fee of N5 million (approximately Sh478,000) per match, just more than Sh1.4million in the preliminaries

Kogallo will face Brazilian giants Corinthians in the Coal City Tournament opener on August 2, before battling Coton FC of Benin on August 4th. They will complete their fixtures against Nigeria‘s Remo Stars two days later.
