South Sudan national team captain Peter Maker Manyang will be hoping to impress the AFC Leopards technical bench and sign with the FKF league club.
The 30-year-old defender, formerly at South Sudan domestic side, Al-Ghazal SC and Zambian side Zesco United is training with Ingwe at Jamuhuri grounds alongside Tanzanian Christian Zigha from Dodoma Jiji and unattached Ugandan midfielder Hussein Senoga.
Leopards' secretary general Gilbert Andugu confirmed the three foreigners are undergoing trials with Ingwe.
“Head coach Tomas Trucha and his technical bench will decide if the trio fit in their system before signing them,” Added Andugu.
If he signs for Ingwe, the 6ft 6 inches giant will join his Sudan national team-mate Rashid Toha of Police FC, in the Kenyan top flight.
Ingwe have already brought on board striker Sydney Lokale from Congolese side Saint-Éloi Lupopo, defender Simon Semo from Muranga Seal and midfielder Julius Masaba from Kariobangi Sharks. According to Andugu, Trucha is looking for a centre-back and a number 10, before the season starts.
Leopards are rebuilding after parting ways with 12 players namely; Cliff Nyakeya, Washington Munene, Yasin Sije, Dan Sunguti, Jaffar Owiti, Zachary Njite, Lameck Moendi, Giovanni Lukhumwa, Owen Mboya, Shawn Oloo, Brian Mandela and Nesta Olum.
Trucha’s charges finished the 2023-2024 season fifth with 51 points and will be hoping to break the KPL jinx by clinching the title for the first time since 1998. Ingwe will be heading to Mumias on Monday for a 10-day pre-season training, where they are expected to play friendly matches with local sides.
