Former Gor Mahia striker Benson Omalla has made a sudden and mysterious return to the country from Lebanon under unclear circumstances.

Omala was spotted at Nyayo Stadium during Gor Mahia vs El-Mereikh Bentiu of South Sudan in the Caf Confederations Cup second-leg preliminary clash but refused to answer any questions on the same.

This comes barely a month after he joined Lebanon's top-tier side Al-Safa FC in a one-year deal.

Omala, who finished as the FKF Premier League top scorer with 19 goals last season, had started settling at the club and even scored in their 3-1 friendly match against Aahal Youth.

Sources close to him have confirmed that he may not be heading back, but did not confirm his immediate plans after the setback.

However, a close family member confirmed he will train with K'Ogallo to maintain fitness as he ponders his next step.

Earlier this year, a similar move by Omalla to the Algerian side, JS Saoura, hit a snag due to paperwork delays.
