Police Bullets out to arrest Stubborn Simba Queens in the Cecafa Zonal Caf Women’s Champions League in Addis.

Kenya Police Bullets are seeking to become only the second Kenyan side to qualify for the Cecafa Zonal Caf Women’s Champions League finals, with victory over Tanzanian champions Simba Queens in this evening’s semi-finals.

Beldine Odemba’s charges qualified despite falling 2-1 to hosts Central Bank of Ethiopia in their last Group ‘A’ clash played under the rains on Thursday to finish second.

Meanwhile, the Ethiopians topped the group with nine points to book a date with Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim FC, who finished behind Simba in Group B.

Bullets started with a barren draw against Yei joint Stars of South Sudan before overcoming Rwanda’s Rayon sports 1-0. This was followed by a 2-1 loss to hosts CBE as they finished the group stages with four points.

As Odemba looks for the formula to stop the Tanzanian giants, she has to sharpen her striking force that has only scored two goals. She will also have to tighten their defence that has leaked in three goals in three games.

Rebecca Akinyi and Purity Anyetu are the only players to have scored for Bullets and the other players must join the goals party if they are to achieve the historical feat.

Odemba, who doubles up as Harambee Starlets head coach, will face familiar faces in Kenyan internationals, goalkeeper Caroline Rufa defenders Wincate Kaari and Ruth Ingosi, midfielder Corazone Aquino, winger Elizabeth Wambui and striker Janetrix Shikangwa, who play for the Dar-es-salaam outfit.

She also has to keep in mind that Corazon, Shikangwa and Wambui have scored two goals each in the tournament so far.

Simba overcame Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Ladies 3-0 on Wednesday at the back of a 5-0 hammering of FAD women of Djibouti, before concluding their Group A matches with a 2-2 draw against Burundi’s PVP Buyenzi on Saturday.

In total Simba scored ten goals and conceded only two to maintain their unbeaten run, numbers that may send jitters down the Bullets’ spine.

Queens’ captain Corazon says she is happy to have made it to the semis and will be looking for victory to ensure they make it to their second final, having won the 2022 edition.
