Extreme Sports CEO Hussein Mohammed is set to launch his FKF presidential bid today at the Kenya National Theatre, ahead of the elections later this year.

Hussein, who is also the assistant chairman of FKF League side Muranga Seal,  has previously shown interest in the seat but played his cards close to his chest, leaving people to guess his running mate and affiliates.

Hussein has been seen with former Kenyan international McDonald Mariga, Dennis Oliech and Athanus Obango Bangoto in sports and social circles. However, Hussein never disclosed whom he would team up with in his bid to clinch the biggest football seat in Kenya.

The experienced football administrator who has supported grassroots football country-wide has been on the frontline fighting for reforms in Kenyan football and never shied away from speaking his mind.

Hussein attended the FKF Annual General Meeting a week ago,  where the FKF delegates present unanimously endorsed the revised 2019/2020 Electoral Code for elections.

They also approved a five-man team member to oversee the election process. Hussein said he was pleased with the Special General Meeting and was looking forward to a free and fair elections.

“I am happy that the meeting took place and we are looking forward to the polls hopefully before the end of the year. The point here is that whatever we adopt has to meet the constitutional threshold and must be within the laws of the country,” said Hussein.

Hussein, who is famously known for the Super 8 tournament that ran across the country, had been locked out of the SGM on the technicality of not being a bonafide member of Seals but was later allowed after the federation confirmed he had indeed qualified to attend the SGM.

" I  call upon all stakeholders to come on board to have a free, fair and inclusive FKF elections. We must follow the Constitution and we must allow everyone to compete for the top seat. This time around, we must get leaders who will take our football to the next level,” Hussein said.

Others, who have confirmed their candidature are former FKF boss Sam Nyamwea, USA-based Sammy Kempes Owino and Dennis Oliech.
