Nairobi City Stars’ Japanese forward Yuto Kusaba has eyes set on the Kenyan Premier League Golden Boot in the 2024/25 season.
Yuto scored thrice in 13 games for Simba wa Nairobi following a late registration with the Football Kenya Federation, which kept him off until the mid-season transfer window in January.
The striker hopes to pick up from last season, where he scored twice against KCB in the season-ender.
“It was my first season in Kenya and it was very difficult. It took me a while to get used to the environment and Kenyan soccer,” he said.
“However, I didn’t give up and continued to work hard, just like a true Japanese. As a result, I started in the final match and scored two goals,” noted Kubasa, who became the first Japanese to grace the FKF Premier League.
“Those goals gave me confidence. I aim to become the top scorer in the KPL next season, so please look out for my scores.”
He clocked just 293 minutes in three starts.
Kusaba joined Simba wa Nairobi from Embu-based FC Zenshin, a fourth-tier side at the beginning of last season but was late to register during the international transfer window.
