The Kenyan Premier League transfer window officially closes at midnight, with teams racing against time to finalize the paperwork for the newly acquired ammunition.

However, the Football Kenya federation has given teams a 10-day grace period to submit essential documents, including the final 2024/2025 team sheet, printed on the club's letterhead.

The official team roster must also be signed by either the club chairman or CEO, officially confirming the players have signed with the clubs.

In accordance with the Confederations of African Football Club Licensing regulatory system, clubs must also have a letter from their medical insurer confirming that all registered players are covered under their medical plan.

This comes in after clubs have previously abandoned players with career-ending injuries, despite serving them for several years.

The two-month transfer window period has been a bee hive of activities, with significant player movements as clubs bring in high-profile signings, and strategically releasing some.

This morning newbies Mara Sugar FC appointed Benjamin Ambuka as their new 1st Assistant Coach. Ambuka popularly known as "Ben Bela", joins  Awitta Batts from Muranga and Noah Jagongo from Kusumu All Stars.

By the time of going to press over 120 players were signed from within the country and across the borders, while just over 100 left for either KPL or lower tier sides, as others joined leagues in neighbouring countries and Europe.

Champions Gor Mahia FC, and FKF cup holders Police finished their business early, as they targeted the CAF competitions.

Tusker FC signed the highest number with 10 joining, after they released 13.

Meanwhile, Senegalese Abdou Karim and South Sudan's Alfred Leku joined Police FC  from Indian club Churchill Brothers FC and  Kiyovu Sports respectively,  as Congolese striker Gedeon Bendeka joined Gor Mahia from Rwanda's Entecelles FC.

AFC Leopards brought on board only four players, while Gor Mahia, Murang'a Seals, Mathare United and KCB signed only five. The number may change though by close of business tonight.

The league returns next weekend after the international break with match day two taking centre stage, with teams fighting to ensure serial winners KO'gallo don't place their hands on the coveted prize for the third year running.
