32 teams for fififth edition of Waziri Super Cup

32 teams have confirmed participation in the 2024 Waziri Super Cup in Bungoma which will feature double the number from last year's fourth edition in 2023.

The tournament, which will run between October and December, will feature football, rugby and basketball.

Organiser, Salim Waziri, expects to host teams in the national leagues, men and women.

The tournament has received a Sh600,000 donation from 1XBet, which Waziri to utilise in organising logistics.

“Waziri Super Cup is not just a sports competition. It is an opportunity for young people to show their skills and open new ways for growth. Thanks to the collaboration with 1XBet, we will help even more people, not only in sports but also in their lives outside the stadium,” said Waziri. 

1XBet's Brian Kiengo said: “We not only support sports but also help local communities through various initiatives, from providing wheelchairs to creating opportunities for young people. Our goal is to be a driving force for positive change.”

The games will be played on six pitches across the region.

There will be cash prizes to be won with the football tournament attracting Sh50,000 for the winner alongside kits, medals, a trophy and a ball.

This will trickle to Sh30,000 and Sh20,000 for the second and third-placed teams. They will also get a full set of kits, medals, a trophy and a ball.

Winners in the women's competition will pocket Sh10,000 and a ball, while the runners-up will receive Sh5,000 and a ball.

In rugby, the top team will earn Sh10,000 and a ball and trickle to  Sh8,000 and Sh5,000 and a ball for the rest of the podium finishers.

The top teams in basketball will get Sh10,000 and a ball and trickle to  Sh8,000 and Sh5,000 and a ball for the rest of the podium finishers.
