Junor Starlets celebrate their victory over Valencia CF.

Junior Starlets will battle Portugal at 5 pm in their second build-up friendly match in Spain, as they gear up for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in the Dominican Republic next month.

The Kenyan beauties hammered Valencia CF Women 4-1  on Wednesday in their opening friendly, and head coach Mildred Cheche will be hoping for another master class today.

Cheche who took her girls through a light training session Friday morning confirmed the team has a clean bill of health with injuries, and their fitness levels are also high.

Cheche knows they are facing a good side, and must get her tactics formation well to get a good result.

She is likely to use the same starting 11 that produced a master class against Valencia as she tries to get her best companion.

"We believe we are equally good and we will give our best, while also being cautious to avoid hard tackles that may lead to injuries," said Cheche.

The defence will be marshalled by the impeccable captain Elizabeth Ochaka, as first-choice keeper Abwire Velma takes her position in between the sticks.

Rebecca Odato and Imbachi Halia will marshall the midfield as Valery Nekesa and Lindey Atieno who grabbed a brace wacha against Valencia start upfront alongside the versatile Marion Serenge.

"Nekesa says she expects a tough match against the Portuguese but we are under no pressure. We are going for a win, and am looking forward to scoring more goals," said Nekesa.

Cheche charges will conclude their friendlies with a clash against another Spanish side Intercity on 30, September 2024, before departing to the Caribbean Nation on 1st, October 2024.

The juniors who are making their debut are targeting a semi-final slot and will battle England on October 18, Korea DPR on October 20, and Mexico on October 24 in a tough Pool C.
