There is no reason to worry despite a slow start to the Kenyan Premier League, Nairobi City Stars coach Nicholas Muyoti has said.

City Stars are winless in their opening two matches but Muyoti believes they can turn the tide when they face AFC Leopards at the Dandora Stadium on Sunday.

“I’m confident the boys will pick up the momentum despite a slow start. My target is to finish higher than last season," said Muyoti.

"We played well in the first two games but we didn’t create a lot of chances,” said Muyoti.

Simba wa Nairobi opened their campaign with a 1-0 loss to Bidco United and drew 1-1 with promoted Mara Sugar in their second.

Muyoti expects a competitive season.

Meanwhile, Andre Kalama is upbeat about his chances at City Stars after making his debut against Mara Sugar. He was an unused substitute in the Bidco opener.

“I want to thank God for the opportunity, to get my first league game in City Stars colours under my belt," he said.

"It was a tough match away from home. We encountered challenges even before the first whistle."

“On a personal level, it was a tough outing but I believe I am integrating well with my teammates and the system of play and I will be able to do more in the upcoming matches when called upon,” he observed.

Kalama joined Simba wa Nairobi in the off-season transfer window following a successful debut season in the Premier League with Sofapaka.

He helped the 2009 avoid relegation by scoring in the post-season playoff against National Super League side Naivas FC.

Sofapaka won the two-legged encounter 2-0 on aggregate.
