Shabana remain bottom of the Kenyan Premier League table after losing their third game of the season.

On Sunday, Shabana succumbed to a 1-0 loss against a resurgent Nairobi City Stars at Gusii Stadium.

Mohammed Ali scored in the fifth minute to condemn the Glamour Boys to a second consecutive home loss.

Shabana yet again played without their head coach Sammy Omollo.

His assistant Peter Okidi took charge.

Shabana secretary general Elizaphan Kerama said:

“I don’t want to talk about “Pamzo” but in the course of the week, we shall have a meeting with him. Our technical bench is not fully constituted and we expect to make some additions in the course of the week.”

Post-match, Okidi said they were unlucky.

“We were not lucky in this game. We expected a positive result. We played very well, especially in the second half. We conceded early which has been our undoing,” Okidi said.

He, however, asked Shabana fans to be patient.

“It’s only six games into the season. They should not worry. We are playing Kenya Police next then we go into the international break.”

“This will give us enough time to rectify some weaknesses we have identified in the team,” Okidi said.

He defended his charges’ performance.

“We must have a hunger for wins. Against City Stars, we played well and didn’t concede in open play. The team is good. City Stars were just lucky. It was their day, ours is coming,” he said.

“We just need to get one win and things will be okay for us. The players are learning my philosophy a few days after I joined the team which is impressive.”

Shabana missed their injured top scorer Mathew Tegisi and captain Justine Omwando.

Shabana play Police on Sunday at Gusii Stadium.

His City Stars counterpart, Nicholas Muyoti, admitted they were lucky.

“Shabana is a good team and they dominated the second half which forced me to tell my players to use counter-attacks,” Muyoti said.

On their second win on the trot, after beating Gor Mahia 2-1 on Monday, Muyoti said:

“I’m happy with our second win on the trot. We have kept a clean sheet and I hope we continue with the same trend in our upcoming matches.”

In other matches, leaders KCB fell 1-0 to Mathare United courtesy of Meshack Otieno’s 55th minute goal.
