AFC Leopards’ fans breathed a huge sigh of relief after the traditional Kenyan giants beat Police FC 1-0 at Dandora stadium to halt a five-match winless streak.

Ken Owino burnt a hole in the law enforcers’ net barely 15 minutes to the full-time whistle, the win proving crucial to Ingwe’s ascension to the top 10 in the KPL standings.

Stand-in head coach Fred Ambani who took over the reins after Czech Tomas Trucha was axed, lavished praise on his charges for rising to the occasion.

“This is an important win not only for us but also for the fans who have endured endless tribulation owing to the unimpressive run we previously experienced,” he said.

“We threw everything into the match and the scoreline hardly gives a true picture of our performance today because we deserved to have won by a larger margin,” Ambani remarked.

Meanwhile, Sofapaka head coach Robert Matano expressed his admiration for his players following their impressive performance in the crucial victory against Kariobangi Sharks at Dandora Stadium on Sunday.

Matano highlighted the team’s resilience and determination, which were key factors in securing the win.

“I’d like to commend the players for their hard work and commitment. Their character shone through during the tough match,” Matano said.

“This victory not only boosts the team’s morale but also strengthens our position in the league as we continue to strive for success in the ongoing season,” he added.

Victor Okello opened the scoring in the 35th minute, capitalising on a defensive mistake, to give Sofapaka the lead.

Just seconds before halftime, Joseph Kuloba doubled the advantage with an outstanding goal.

Frederick Alushula gave Sharks a consolation goal three minutes after the restart.

With the victory, Sofapaka scaled to eighth place in the Kenyan Premier League standings, 11 points behind leaders KCB.

Next up for Sofapaka is a home match against Ulinzi Stars on December 8.

Elsewhere, Tusker head coach Charles Okere was all smiles after his newfound sensation Ryan Ogam scored a hat-trick to fire the Brewers to a resounding 3-1 win over Muranga Seal at St Sebastian Park.

“I’m immensely impressed by the results. We deserved the win after such a wonderful performance,” Okere said.

Kakamega Homeboyz brought Shabana’s three-match unbeaten streak to an abrupt halt with an emphatic 2-0 win.
