KCB Sevens captain, Samuel Asati believes his side has what it takes to go all the way in the  Prinsloo Sevens at the Nakuru Athletics Club this weekend.

“We are aiming at winning the Main Cup but most importantly execute the game plan and correct the mistakes we made down in Mombasa during Driftwood Sevens,” said Asati.

The bankers finished third at the Driftwood Sevens after going down 17-12 to Menengai Oilers in the semi-final before brushing away the Strathmore Leos 29-12 in the third-place playoff.

“We want to go back on top of the overall standings as we are currently two points behind leaders Kabras,” added the Kenyan international.

KCB will face Paul Murunga’s formidable Kenya Harlequins alongside university sides, MMUST and Blak Blad in Pool C.

“Our pool is not as easy as everyone thinks and we hope the teams give us a challenge in order for us to set a good foundation for the playoffs on Sunday,” added the Cardinal Otunga High School alumnus.

The bankers, however, suffered an unexpected setback as they will be missing the services of the mercurial Jacob Ojee who is out with an injury.

KCB were in an almost similar situation last season when they reached the finals in the first two legs while managing to win the first one before missing out on the next four finals.

“We will not have a repeat of last season as we lacked depth due to the international matches (Currie Cup Division Two), where most of our Sevens' players were featuring,” revealed Asati.
