Kabras Sugar edged Quins 10-5 to win their second national Sevens series title at the Prinsloo Sevens in Nakuru on Sunday.
The sugar millers dominated the opening exchanges in a cagey final and took the lead just before the break with Bryceson Adaka scoring an unconverted try for a 5-0 lead at the interval.
On resumption, Fijian-born playmaker Jone Kubu sliced open Quins' defence to touch down at the corner for a 10-0 advantage.
Quins fought back bravely for the remainder of the half, piling pressure on their opponents and their efforts bore fruit when scrumhalf Lucky Dewald dived over for a try to reduce the deficit to 10-5.
Felix Ayange's charges, however, stood tall in the closing stages to repel wave after wave of Quins' attacks to win their second leg of the circuit, having bagged the Driftwood Sevens last month, 10-7 against Menengai Oilers in Mombasa
In the semifinals, Kabras edged bitter rivals KCB 15-0 with Kubu, Brian Tanga and Griffin Chao getting on the scoresheet while Quins defeated Menengai Oilers 14-10 courtesy of Zedden Marrow's brace as Amon Wamalwa slotted home conversions. Dennis Abukuse and Stephen Arunga replied for Oilers.
In the bronze medal match, KCB defeated Oilers 22-12 while Mwamba finished fifth with a hard-fought 22-19 win over Strathmore Leos.
The varsity outfit reached the playoff final by outplaying hosts Nakuru 28-12 while Mwamba needed a try in sudden death to edge Homeboyz 17-12.
The action moves to Nairobi for the fourth leg of the circuit, the Christie Sevens, at the RFUEA ground this weekend.
