United States International University Africa (USIU-A) Martials will be targeting Division Two final when they return to the National Sevens Circuit at the Tisap edition in Eldoret this weekend.
The Martials are in Pool 'B' alongside Division Two regulars Stallions, Kabarak Univeristy and Mt Kenya University, Thika.
“It’s a tough pool since Stallions have played in the circuit and reached semis twice while Kabarak played in Division One in Nakuru. They are experienced teams. However, we are not going for a tour but to compete,” said USIU-A coach Tom Lagat.
“We want to reach the finals.”
Martials will use the Tisap 7s and the last leg of the series, the Kabeberi 7s on August 19-20, to prepare for the Federation of Africa Universities (FASU) championships to be played in Kampala, Uganda on October 6-8.
“Fasu Sevens is always very competitive since we have top universities from South Africa, Botswana, Kenya and Uganda. We want to prepare well for the event,” noted Lagat.
At the same time, Sigalagala are top seed in Division Two competition. They headline Pool ‘A’ alongside co-hosts Eldoret, MKU Nairobi and debutants Kisii Kifaru.
Makueni, Meru, KCA Sparxx and Nandi make up Pool 'C'.
Administration Police Warriors are in Pool 'D' alongside Molo, co-hosts Moi University and Mbale as NYS Spades, Northern Suburbs, Siaya and Homa Bay battle it out in Pool 'E'.
