Eight-time Kenya Cup champions KCB rugby team is set for a clash against Ngong road-based side Mwamba RFC in the fourth round of the current Kenya Cup season this weekend at the RFUEA grounds.
Since the start of the 2023/2024 season, KCB has won the three matches played so far garnering 15 points and currently sits second on the table behind leaders Kabras Sugar.
“We intend to keep the momentum going after a good start to the season. We expect a good show from Mwamba therefore, we will be out to defend the badge and to play our game," head coach Curtis Olago said.
"The boys have been training well after resuming from the festive holidays. I would like to call upon our supporters to turn up in large numbers to rally behind the team.”
The bankers had a quiet transfer activity in the January transfer window only acquiring the services of Horus Alela from Shamas Rugby and dispatched him on loan to Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad.
“We have a solid team right now and the depth in both the Kenya Cup side and the ESS side is unmatched. This explains why we did not make a lot of changes in the transfer window," Olago explained.
"Our players have shown great determination and hard work since we started this new campaign. I am optimistic that we will clinch the title at the end of the season."
KCB will however miss the services of Vincent Onyala, Samuel Asati and Festus Shiasi who have been called upon to represent Shujaa in the Challenger series expected to kick off on Friday in Dubai.
