Over 1000 runners expected at next month's Karura Chapel Run

The event will seek to build up from the success of last year’s edition which saw over 580 participants and six corporate sponsors mark a wonderful start to the initiative.

Over 1000 athletes converge at Two Rivers, Koroga Grounds, for Karura Chapel Run on August 3. 

The event will seek to build up from the success of last year’s edition which saw over 580 participants and six corporate sponsors mark a wonderful start to the initiative.

The run, organised by Karura Community Chapel, is a charity-based event that combines walking and jogging, known as "wogging.".

The event, held under the theme: "Wogging for a Cause," aims to raise funds for charity while promoting health and fitness.

"This exercise is less intense than running, making it accessible to individuals of all ages and abilities. The event is open to people of all ages and fitness levels, encouraging families and groups to participate," said Karura Community Chapel fundraising manager Linda Ajima.

"We are thrilled to host the second edition of Karura Chapel Run. The inaugural event was a great success and we are confident this year's will be bigger and better. The Run is more than just a fitness event... it's an opportunity for our community to assemble for a worthy cause and promote a healthy lifestyle."

Digital Strategist Arnold Mukabi asked athletics enthusiasts to turn up in large numbers.

"Whether you're a seasoned runner or just starting your fitness journey, we encourage you to join us on August 3 for a day of fun, fitness and community spirit," he said.

"You'll not only be challenging yourself physically but also making a difference in the lives of those in need. All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting a charitable cause. Every step you take will have a positive impact."
