Mwamba confident of good show in Kabeberi Sevens

Hosts Mwamba RFC believes they can return to winning ways during the Kabeberi Sevens tournament this weekend at the RFUEA ground.

The side also known as Kulabu have endured a dismal start to the Sevens campaign failing to qualify for the Main Cup quarterfinals in the first three tournaments of the series.

Mwamba have a favourable Pool 'D', where they face MKU Thika, series holders KCB and high-flying Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST). 

Mwamba chairman Jason Braganza sounded an upbeat note for his charges. “We have a good chance by being the home team and the fans behind us we can do something special,” said Braganza. 

Braganza lamented over the transition of senior players to other jobs— leaving the side with a relatively young side— as their biggest dilemma.

“It happens everywhere. When most of your star players leave and don't have replacements coming through,  it leaves you with gaps. However, I am confident we are headed in the right direction as a club and we will thrive," he noted. 

Fresh from winning the Dala Sevens, Kabras headline Pool A, where they face Nakuru, Strathmore Leos and guest team Impala RFC.

Menengai Oilers are the front runners in Pool 'B' where they take on Catholic Monks, Kabete Stallions and Kisumu RFC. 

Quins have a date with neighbours Nondies, Daystar University and Blak Blad in Pool C.
