A rampant Kenya Lionesses put Madagascar to the sword with a 63-19 demolition in an international friendly match at the RFUEA ground on Friday.

It was sweet revenge for Dennis Mwanja's charges, who lost 29-22  during the Africa Cup in Madagascar to see their hope of qualifying for the WXV 3 tournament go up in smoke.

The visitors opened the scoring courtesy of Zouanah Fanantenana, who finished off a well-executed passage of play from their half.

Ericka Razanakiniaina slotted the conversion for an early 7-0 lead.

The Lionesses regrouped and dominated territory and possession, resulting in a try by Stella Wafula as Grace Okulu added the extras to level terms at 7-7.

Kenya grew into the match, winning the collision and the battle of the breakdown. From an attacking line-out in the Madagascar 22 Kenya were awarded a penalty try after the visitors were deemed to have brought the maul down illegally.

Matters went from bad to worse when referee Precious Pazani reduced the visitors to 14.

The Lionesses capitalised on the numerical advantage with skipper Sheila Chajira going over the whitewash from a maul with Okulu converting for a 19-7 lead.

Winger Freshia Owino showed the Malagasy side a clean pair of heels to touch down at the corner to surge 24-7 ahead.

Awino, who was causing trouble for the visitors with her speed and playmaking, set up Kenya's fifth try when she combined with Maureen Muritu — who fed Maureen Chebet to touch down. Okulu added the extras for a 31-7 lead.

Lady Makis centre Veronique Rasoanekena scored Madagascar's second try to cut the deficit to 31-14 but the hosts finished the half stronger when Diana Kemunto sold a dummy and finished off a brilliant move to score the Lionesses’ sixth try and a lead 36-14 at the interval.

On resumption, Okulu sliced open the Malagasy defence to land at the corner for a 41-14 score.

Madagascar were not going down without a fight and Rasoanekena touched down to alter the score to 41-18.

Wafula scored her second try with Okulu converting for a 48-19 advantage.

Chajira grabbed her second try from a quickly taken tap penalty as Sinaida Nyacheo and Owino closed out the rout with a try each.
