Premier Bank CEO Osman Dualle has highlighted the role played by Parliament in shaping Kenya’s economic trajectory and urged adoption of best practices and ethical banking.
Speaking during the Parliamentary Iftar Dinner held at the main Parliament Buildings, the CEO emphasised the need for enhanced partnership and cooperation between the banking sector and Parliament.
The CEO noted that in addition to their core responsibilities of representation, lawmaking, and oversight, MPs were also custodians of Kenya’s economic future given their significant influence on policy and budgeting.
He said Parliament's sensitiveness to a better economy can be seen in the decisions that directly impact the financial welfare of the nation and its corporate citizens.
Dualle highlighted the vast partnership opportunities that exist within Parliament, saying the bank sees immense potential for collaboration.
“Through these interactions, we envision unprecedented partnership opportunities that will further strengthen the nation’s financial system and benefit the constituencies that MPs serve. Premier Bank’s values align with the long-term goals of Parliament as they seek to also enhance Kenya’s economic prosperity,” he said.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula expressed his gratitude to Premier Bank for their support towards hosting of the Parliamentary Iftar diner and pledged to work with the bank by exploring its product and services.
“The National Assembly is committed to passing legislation that fosters growth of the banking sector and at the same time make investment favourable to all," he assured.
He explained that Parliament regularized the parliamentary Iftar diner as one of activities in its calendar of events to enhance inclusivity.
The CEO, who was accompanied by his director and team of banking experts, reiterated his commitment to working alongside leaders in Parliament to foster inclusion, ensuring that both individuals and businesses thrive in the partnership.
