    Senate speaker Ken Lusaka has won the Bungoma gubernatorial seat after flooring the incumbent Wycliffe Wangamati.

    Lusaka had lost the seat to Wycliffe Wangamati in the 2017 general elections.

    Lusaka garnered 244,298 votes, flooring Wycliffe Wangamati (DAP-K) who bagged 137,378 votes.

    In a statement on Thursday, August 11, Wangamati congratulated the outgoing Speaker on his anticipated win noting he would not catch up with the governor in the final tally.

    “It is a privileged and honour to serve the people of Bungoma. This battle began in my heart many years ago, it ends because of the people It is not about affirmative action, it is about ensuring the people of Bungoma are well represented.

    Lusaka has promised a new beginning for the people of Bungoma.

    "I have come to finish what I started in 2013," he said.
