Vihiga Governor Wilber Ottichilo and speaker Chris Omulele have promised to work closely to foster development in the county.
The two were speaking during the induction retreat for Vihiga MCAs that started on Monday at Pride Inn Flamingo, Mombasa.
They urged the MCAs to take the induction serious as it will help them in performing their mandate.
The governor while addressing the MCAs said as leaders, they must dedicate the next five years to service delivery to the people of Vihiga and this can only be achieved through synergy between the Executive and Assembly without forgetting the principal of separation of power.
“I must congratulate those who won the election, it was not easy but you made it, so its upon you now to serve your people and prove to them why you deserve that position,” Ottichilo said.
“I also extend my congratulation to the speaker, I am sure with his vast experience as the Luanda MP for the last two terms he has got enough experience to run the house,” he added.
The speaker in his remarks noted that the induction workshop is a learning curve for members and at the end of the retreat members will be able to understand the legislative process and other mandates as stipulated in Article 185 of the constitution.
“As an assembly, we are going to have an open door policy for the purposes of executing our mandate,” the speaker said.
He said assembly at the service board level will enhance capacity building of MCAs in order to perform their mandate effectively.
During the induction the MCAs went through Executive Order Paper 1 and composition and functions of the county assembly, assembly leadership and roles, composition and the mandate of the service board.
