ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo has said attempts to heighten mass action by the opposition will not stop Nyanza leaders from working with government.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga has been leading anti-government protests since March 20, citing the high cost of living among four conditions they want to be addressed by President William Ruto.

But Kenya Kwanza leaders have linked the protests to post-election demonstrations, insisting the elections are done and dusted.

Owalo on Friday said politics was over until the next general elections and that it was time for government to deliver their mandate to people.

“Politics is over until next general elections and as Kenya Kwanza we are done with politics, and we have a development agenda for all Kenyans,” Owalo said.

Owalo said despite the negative voting pattern on the government in Nyanza region, President William Ruto has said he will work with all Kenyans.

“Among major development projects we have done so far and appointments, Nyanza region has benefitted because Kenya Kwanza will work will all Kenyans,” Owalo said.

He spoke at Nyarongi village in Suna East constituency, Migori county, when he distributed relief food to residents.

Some 300 bags of rice and 250 bags of beans were distributed.

Leaders who attended the meeting included Chief Administrative Secretary Nicholas Gumbo, Nuclear Board chairman Edick Anyanga and local politicians Odiso Ogenga, Elijah Odhiambo and former Migori MP John Pesa, among others.

“We only have one President in Kenya until next elections, and talk of opening of servers and telling Kenyans to wear empty sufurias on their head will yield nothing,” Anyanga said.

Anyanga said Raila and opposition should know that some of them were in the same spot “including rolling with expensive suits in streets to fight for party tickets.

“We thank Ruto for several appointments in Nyanza region. He has shown that he wants to work with Luos and we will move closer to him,” Gumbo said.

Ogenga said demonstrations have been interfering with the school in opposition strongholds. He said if Raila “wants servers to be opened on presidential vote he should do so in other seats because were were rigged out and still work with those elected as MPs and governors.”

Ogenga vied for Nyatike MP seat in the last elections.

Phares Oguda, the Migori chairman of UDA, said demonstrators blocking the road connecting Kenya to Tanzania were hurting the local economy.
