Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza could yet again find herself at the centre of a storm following the MCAs' threat to impeach her again.
The ongoing wrangles pitting her against deputy governor Paul M'Ethingia have also roped in county Secretary Kiambi Athiru who MCAs have also vowed to kick out also.
Athiru has been accused of withdrawing the Deputy governor's official car but.
Allegations emerged that the official car for the deputy governor was withdrawn and his trip to the USA was cancelled after an alleged fallout with his boss.
The county secretary has however denied the allegations.
He said there is no official car belonging to the deputy governor which was withdrawn.
"The car which was withdrawn is just assigned to him to carry his day-to-day activities. It was withdrawn after it it was discovered that it was being misused. It is not his official car," Athiru said.
Athiru spoke Friday at county government offices during a press briefing.
He said the vehicle was taken so that investigation into its misuse can be carried out.
Athiru is among the influential leaders of Mwangaza's government who came out to trash reports of simmering fallout between the Governor and her deputy.
Meru chief of staff Harrison Gatobu who is in charge of foreign travel has also denied that the deputy governor's foreign trip was cancelled.
"I am in charge of the Governor and the deputy governor's diary. There is no trip from either of the two to visit the USA was planned," he said.
He said anyone who has evidence of the trip to the US to provide proof and he will take full responsibility.
The Meru MCAs have come out to defend the deputy governor.
Deputy speaker Mwenda Ali said Mwangaza's leadership style is questionable.
"DP Rigathi Gachagua should come back to Meru and do follow-ups on the mediation talks. The governor has started again. He has become a thorn in everybody. Her leadership style has a lot of questions to us the people of Meru and more so to us MCAs," Mwenda said.
He said the team that held a reconciliation talk that saw a truce between the MCAs and Kawira reached Should go back to the drawing board over the same.
"She is vilifying everybody and picking unnecessary fights with elected leaders," Ali said.
Mwenda said the county secretary is acting beyond her mandate.
Mwenda said county staff and other leaders are operating in fear of the governor and many people feel intimidated.
Minority leader Mwenda Ithili said the decision by the county government of Meru to send the County Public Service Board home was uncalled for adding that Meru people will lose money if those people sue for unlawful dismissal.
"The governor should know he is not the only leader in Meru, she should respect other leaders," Ithili said.
About ten MCAS are publicly supporting calls to send Mwangaza home.
"Others are going to come in. They are not willing to publicly declare because of fear of being victimised. When they will come out the whole country will know what is happening in Meru," Ithili said.
Mwenda Kiriiinya (nominated) said the deputy governor should be given a portfolio.
"He was elected the same way the governor was elected. I think Mwangaza won because of the deputy governor that is why she got votes from Nyambene," Kiriinya said.
Mwenda said they do not want to pick fights with the county boss but she had gone too far.
The MCAs spoke to the press at the county assembly buildings on Tuesday.
The deputy governor is yet to respond on the issue.
