Another set of ECDE teachers undergo CBC training in Marsabit

The training will be continuous and sustained to ensure it is a way of life for ECDE teachers.

Marsabit County Directorate of Education has continued with the training of ECDE teachers on the competency-based curriculum.

The four-day training is in partnership with World Vision and it drew teachers from Loiyangalani and Kargi/South-Horr ward in Laisamis constituency.

Over 23 ECDE teachers attended the training at a hotel in Loiyangalani.

Speaking on Friday, County CECM For Education Ambaro Abdullahi said the Marsabit county government is investing in CBC to build the capacity of ECDE teachers so that they can effectively interpret and implement the new curriculum.

She said the training of ECDE teachers on competency-based curriculum is to enhance teachers' skills in readiness for the complete implementation of the CBC.

"The training of teachers would ensure that children attain a strong educational foundation," she said.

She said her department is planning to employ more ECDE teachers and supervisors for coordination and quality assurance.

The former school principal pointed out that Governor Mohamud Ali's administration is committed to transforming the ECDE centres across the county and equipping all 365 ECDE centres with facilities and manpower that offer competent services to boost academic performance in school.

"Marsabit county government remains committed to addressing the plight of ECDE teachers and improving ECDE structures," she said.

She said so far more than 160 ECDE teachers in Moyale Sub County were fully trained in the new system of education.

Chief Officer Education Qabale Adhi Bulbul said the four days of training equipped teachers with more advanced skills and knowledge that will aid in teaching in schools.

"The county government under the leadership of Governor Mohamud Ali is investing in CBC training for ECDE teachers for them to understand the new curriculum and impact knowledge learnt to young learners." Said the education chief officer

Qabale said the training on CBC will help teachers to understand the curriculum design which will eventually help in lesson plans and preparedness, assuring parents and guardians that Governor Mohamud Ali's administration is committed to transforming the ECDE centres across the county.

She noted that the training will be continuous and sustained to ensure it is a way of life for ECDE teachers.

She thanked World Vision led by James Jarso and program officer Mr William Waithaka for their commitment to supporting education.

County Director of Education Issack Hassan said the four days of training of ECDE teachers would enhance the quality of education in the county and provide knowledge and skills to ECDE teachers for their successful implementation of the Competency-Based curriculum at low levels of education.

He commended teacher's commitment to their teaching by ensuring learners receive knowledge that will impact their lives in future.

The principal ECDE officer Boru Godana who presided over the training on CBC across the county said the training aims to provide teachers with knowledge of CBC and how to implement it at the basic level of education.

"Teachers will be able to design and interpret the CBC framework and curriculum at the end of the training," said Boru.

He encouraged ECDE teachers throughout the county to take advantage of free training to improve the quality of early childhood education.

"There is a need to build the capacity of teachers to implement competency-based curriculum," he said
