UDA leaders in Kilifi have rolled out a mass registration exercise aimed at increasing party members ahead of the August grassroots elections.

They plan to also popularise the party in Kilifi and the Coast region, which perceived an ODM stronghold.

Former Ganda MCA Abdulrahman Omar said in 2027 UDA will carry the day and promised to paint Malindi and Kilifi yellow by winning majority seats in future elections.

“We are here today as leaders from all the five wards in Malindi and we came to discuss the coming party elections set for August. As leaders, we resolved to conduct peaceful elections, to ensure the party goes forward in unity,” he said.

Elina Mapenzi, a UDA national committee member, said they were planning for the UDA grassroots elections in August in Kilifi.

“We are here for preparations and are happy the party has exercised freedom for everyone who is a member of UDA to vie in the grassroots elections,” she said.

Hosea Chome, alias Nguo Mbifu, from Malindi said the meeting was also aimed at laying out strategies for the party in Malindi constituency.

He said they have many plans for the party and by July, all will be set for the party grassroots elections.
