Residents of Limuru, Kiambu county have raised concern over the rising cases of insecurity in the area.
They said young men armed with crude weapons, spend the night walking on the roads, robbing anyone they spot.
Voice of Men and Children Network national chairman Bishop James Njenga said residents they are now forced to go home as early as 6pm.
He said they are also forced to open their businesses late in the morning to avoid the dawn attacks.
"There is a groups of young men, who majority are less than 25 years old. This group does not to care who they rob or the impact they will leave on their victims" he said.
Njenga said the robbers mostly target their cash money, mobile phones and other valuables.
He said the most dangerous areas are Kwambira, Kamirithu, Mutarakwa, Farmers, Karanjee, Kamandura and Ngarariga in Limuru Subcounty.
In Ndeiya, dangerous places are Mboloti, Kandumo, Royal, Thigio and parts of Nduma.
Njagi wa Mbugua said some of the thugs address their victims by names during robbery.
"They ask their victims to cooperate to avoid harm since they expect to rob them later," he said.
Mbugua said the thugs have left them frustrated and poor.
Limuru OCPD Phillip Mwania said they have put strategies to to restore security in the area.
He said they have so0 far arrested some in Kwambira.
Mwania said they have intensified day and night patrols to deal with the criminals.
"Anyone who thinks will enrich themselves by stealing from locals should know we are on ground and we shall arrest them. Let them do something else meaningful to earn a living" he said.
Njenga has urged Inspector General of police Japheth Koome to add more police patrol vehicles to curb the rising insecurity.
He said police posts were converted to police stations after Ndeiya was hived off from Limuru constituency.
Both Ndeiya and Limuru Subcounties are under Limuru constituency.
Solomon Wachira from Thigio village said officers serving in those stations have challenges of patrolling the Subcounty on foot.
"We are requesting our MP to boost our calls to the police IG to provide our stations with police vehicles so as to enable them patrol the region" he said.
