Residents of Githunguri Constituency are set to benefit from a state-of-the-art laboratory at Nyaga Secondary School, located in Ngewa Ward, Kiambu County.

The Sh8.3 million facility will be constructed and equipped under the NG-CDF Board’s Best Practice Demonstration Programme (BPDP).

This initiative follows Githunguri’s recognition for exemplary project execution under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

Area MP Gathoni Wamuchomba announced that the lab will transform Nyaga Secondary School, significantly enhancing students' access to technology and preparing them for a tech-driven future.

“This project will provide our students with essential learning skills, helping them compete in the global digital economy,” said Wamuchomba.

In a letter, the NG-CDF Board has awarded the tender for the construction and equipping of the lab to M/S Ewecole Construction Limited, a Nairobi-based company.

The organization’s contact person, David Kariuki Njuguna, has been instructed to liaise with the County Works Officer, who will serve as the Project Manager and the Principal of Nyaga Secondary School.

This collaboration will ensure a seamless site handover and smooth implementation of the project.

The construction will be carried out on the second floor of an existing structure at Nyaga Secondary School and will include the addition of a staircase.

“The project is expected to be monitored closely by the NG-CDF Committee chairperson to ensure adherence to timelines and quality standards. Regular site meetings will be convened by the Project Manager, with feedback provided to the Board through monthly reports.”

The Best Practice Demonstration Programme (BPDP) is designed to highlight successful NG-CDF-funded initiatives, serving as models for other constituencies.

Githunguri’s recognition under this program underscores the constituency’s dedication to impactful development projects that address community needs.

“The new lab is anticipated to provide Nyaga Secondary School students with hands-on experience, bridging the gap and opening new opportunities for learning and innovation. Additionally, the lab will be available for use by other educational stakeholders and community members, further enhancing its impact.”

Residents and stakeholders of Nyaga Secondary School have expressed optimism about the project’s potential to uplift education standards in the area.

With this initiative, the Githunguri Constituency continues to set a benchmark for the effective use of public funds, ensuring that development priorities translate into tangible benefits for the community.
