Kenya Kwanza politicians on Monday had a rough time trying to access polling stations within Mombasa County.
Former Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and former Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa, who lost in the Kilifi Gubernatorial race, were roughed up at Ziwa la Ngombe Primary School within the Nyali constituency.
Residents claimed the politicians were on a mission to bribe voters.
Police had to act fast to rescue the politicians. No one was injured during the melee.
Kuria and Jumwa alleged that their rival sent goons to attack them.
UDA Mkomani MCA candidate Gladys Chepkorir was also kicked out of Maweni Primary School over voter bribery allegations.
Maweni and Ziwa la Ngombe polling centres are among the most populous within the Nyali constituency.
Earlier on, Hassan Omar, the UDA gubernatorial candidate alleged that there was massive voter bribery.
"There is widespread bribery and we have asked the police to manage it in the next one hour or we will manage it ourselves," he said.
He also claimed that some people tried to attack one of his cars that were delivering food to UDA agents.
