A man died on the spot after he was subjected to mob injustice in Mlolongo, Machakos County on Friday.
The unidentified man was killed near the Delta filling station area within the Katani location in the Mlolongo division.
Athi River East subcounty police commander Anderson Mbae said his officers from the Mavoko SNP police station were called to go pick up the body which was lying on a trench in the area at around 1.00 pm.
The matter was reported to the same station as a mob injustice incident report at 1.21 pm.
“It was reported by members of the public that there was an incident of mob injustice within the Delta petrol station area. Officers from Mavoko SNP police station responded immediately at Delta area in Katani location and established that an unknown male adult of approximately 23 years had been subjected to mob injustice to death,” Mbae told the Star by phone hours after the incident.
Police said the body had three visible sharp pricks on the head inflicted by a sharp object.
Mbae said the motive of the man’s lynching wasn’t known.
“The scene was visited and necessary action was taken while the body moved to Nairobi Funeral Home(City Mortuary) awaiting identification and autopsy,” he said.
The police boss said the case was pending under investigation with Mlolongo police station-based DCI sleuths dealing.
