Civic education is key to eradicating corruption, CSOs say

Makueni Civil Society Network,  Kiambu Network and the media on Thursday convened a training at Wote to sensitize about the space of youth in fighting corruption in the County Governments.

Speaking to the media, Daniel  Mutunga said that these two organisations started in 2022 and have been working closely to handle Devolution matters procurement, transparency and accountability.

Mutunga insisted that the project is aimed at strengthening the capacities of Local CSOs to fight corruption (TUPIGANE NA UFISADI).

He highlighted that Citizens have now seen the light in social accountability in terms of anticipating their appearance in public participation.

"We have achieved a lot in informing the society because they now come out in huge numbers to ask what they need,"  noted Mutunga.

James Mungai a youth representing Kiambu Network said that citizens have opened their eyes and they are now coming out to challenge auditors' report on budget overview.

Christine Wamaitha standing for the youth in media ladies is still left in the cold in matters of budget execution and resource allocation.

"Women have not been fully embraced in the matters Constitution but we thank Tisa for valuing our voices," noted Wamaitha.
