A bodaboda operator has died after he was hit by a motor vehicle in Machakos County on Monday.
The deceased succumbed on the spot in the accident that occurred in the Kai area along the Kyumbi - Machakos road
Machakos subcounty police commander Emmanuel Okanda said the body was removed to Machakos Level 5 Hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy and identification.
The matter was reported to Machakos police station as a fatal road accident incident.
Irate bodaboda operators barricaded the road at the scene of the incident in protest of their colleague's death.
The situation caused heavy traffic snarl along the road stretching several kilometres from the scene. Some motorists who attempted to overlap to get out of the scene worsened the situation as they created more obstruction along the road.
Traffic officers from Machakos police station rushed to the scene of the accident incident, processed, cleared, and processed it before removing the body to Machakos Level 5 Hospital mortuary.
They later managed to control the traffic along the road thereby clearing it.
Traffic flow on the highway had returned to normalcy by press time.
