Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo has issued about 1,200 allotment letters to residents, alleviating years of anxiety about the safety and security of the parcels.

The county chief also commissioned key development projects; a tarmacked road and a bridge – initiatives aimed at opening up the county's economy.

Guyo also defended President William Ruto against political attacks and calls to resign.

During a development tour of the county on Sunday, Guyo, in an event attended by Isiolo county commissioner Geoffrey Omondi and National Land Commission vice chairperson Getrude Nguku, issued 1,191 allotment letters.

The documents were issued to the residents of Kulamawe, Kiwanjani, Kambi Bule, Tuluroba and Kambi Garba in Isiolo Central subcounty.

“This exercise is a critical step towards affirming land rights, fostering a sense of belonging and unlocking the economic potential of our people,” Guyo said.

Isiolo Deputy Governor James Lowasa, NLC commissioner Tiya Galgalo and county lands executive Yussuf Dahir attended the event held at Bula Mpya Primary School.

Later, Guyo commissioned the construction of Kamukuri Bridge and tarmacking of Ola Jarole Road in Bulapesa ward.

“These two vital infrastructure projects will significantly improve connectivity and ease movement for residents of Bulapesa, which is Isiolo's most densely populated wards” he said.

Kamukuri Bridge and Ola Jarole Road are set to provide safer and more reliable access to Isiolo town, especially during rainy seasons when flooding has historically disrupted transport and endangered lives.

These developments are impactful for school children, local traders and daily commuters.

“The projects represent our administration’s continued investment in inclusive infrastructure development. I have instructed the implementing contractor to expedite the remaining works to ensure timely and quality delivery,” Guyo said.

Governor Guyo used the occasions to drum up support for Ruto, telling off those calling for his resignation to give the President a chance to deliver on his pledges.

The close ally of the President urged residents to defy the ‘Ruto Must Go’ chants.

“If Ruto has worked, will we say Ruto must stay. Ruto must finish his second term. Do you people agree?” he asked  amid cheers from the crowd.

Guyo said Isiolo residents are beneficiaries of the Kenya Kwanza development initiatives and there is no reason to reject the administration.

“You have heard and seen the work the national government has done. Is that an easy job? Has Ruto worked or not?” he asked.

Meanwhile, the governor pleaded with elected leaders to shelve the 2027 political ambitions for now, and work for the residents.

“I want to put a request to the elected leaders in Isiolo County. And I want to ask you with humility. Nobody knows if they will reach 2027. I am a young man. I have energy, but I don’t know where I will be in 2027,” Guyo said.

"Let us close the business of 2027 and work for the people of Isiolo,"

The governor urged the residents to be resilient and support his administration to deliver on its mandate.

He said he is a governor right now out of resilience.

“I used to sleep on a box. I could not even afford tea. We were so poor that I would arrive home from school to no tea," Guyo said.

“One of my sisters who worked in town, would occasionally give me Sh20 to buy tea and beans.  But because God is supreme, I am your governor, today,” he said.
