Senator Sifuna throws party to celebrate World Teachers' Day

    Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna on Saturday organised a party for Nairobi teachers as they marked this year's World Teachers' Day.

    The luncheon was attended by over 500 teachers drawn from all 17 counties in the City.

    Speaking during the event, Sifuna promised to treat the teachers every year underscoring the critical contribution of teachers to society.

    "For as long as I am the senator of Nairobi, we will always celebrate teachers every 5th October," Sifuna said.


    "We are in the capital city and must set the pace for others."

    World Teachers' Day is an international day held annually on 5 October to celebrate the work of teachers.

    The event was attended by ECDE teachers, primary and secondary school teachers as well as Junior Secondary School tutors.


    Also present were Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) and Teachers Service Commission (TSC) officials.

    "This is the first time we are being honoured as a teacher," Peter Wafula a teacher at Dagoretti High School said.
