Man reunited with family after 58 years in Uganda

It was all joy for a family in Nyakach subounty, Kisumu after a man reunited with his relatives after 58 years.

The family in Sang'oro village West Nyakach could not hide their joy after their son who went missing in Uganda in 1965 finally returned home.

Pictures of the Mzee John Odhiambo Anudo were circulating on different social media platforms from the Ugandans who wanted to reconnect him with his family.

In the social media post, Mzee Anudo's details indicated that he was in Hoima Uganda stranded without a family and sick.

According to West Nyakach MCA James Omollo, he saw the post showing that the man was from Nyakach Koguta Sangoro School, so he tried following up and informed the Kenyan Ambassador to Uganda.

"We thank them for the cooperation because all the documents required were issued and he has finally been brought back to home," Omollo said.

Omollo said a new house should be built for Anudo and he also needs to be taken to the hospital for treatment.

According to Majidu Maberia from Uganda Kampala, they have been with the old man who had suffered from a stroke and decided to help him trace his family.

Maberia said after a while things were getting worse, and he decide to post Anudo's details on the internet to find out if he can be traced by his relatives.

"I requested him to give me the details from his home village and school so that I can try and trace his family and he did," Maberia said.

Maberia said he immediately he got responses and calls from persons who knew him and that's when the process of bringing Anudo back home started.

According to his brother Samuel Anudo, their brother had been in their mind for years and they thank God for bringing him back.

Samuel thanked their area MCA for his effort to ensure that his brother is back home.

"All am requesting wellwishers to help me build him a house and even take him to the hospital because he's paraylised," Samuel said.
