A suspect linked to the murder of an Egyptian national was arrested in his Bungoma home days after the incident.

The Egyptian man was murdered in Kikuyu, Kiambu county.

The suspect, identified as Maxwell Wafula, was traced to his home county by detectives investigating the murder of Awny Karim Arisha Gouda, 45.

Gouda's body was found in a pool of blood in his sitting room on Tuesday long after he had been murdered in Gikambura shopping centre, Kiambu county.

The two reportedly fought in the house leading to the fatal stabbing of Gouda. Wafula then fled with his blood-stained clothes to the Gikambura health centre, where he sought medical help.

He then boarded a bus a day later to his rural home where he was traced and arrested at the weekend.

He later led police to his Bobotano estate, where a blood-stained T-shirt was recovered.

Police also recovered documents showing he sought medical attention at Gikambura health centre.

The officers said the body was found in a pool of blood with deep cut injuries in the head.

A kitchen knife that is believed to have been used in the murder was found at the scene, police said.

The man dealt in shoes and was supplying the products in the area.

Police were called and picked up the body to the mortuary pending autopsy and further probe. A team of detectives visited the scene as part of the probe.

Meanwhile, a 26-year-old woman was stabbed to death in a domestic quarrel in Githurai, Nairobi.

The body of Ziporrah Waithera was found in her house minutes after the Saturday night incident and rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police say the suspect, who is her boyfriend, was arrested at Githurai 45 in a salon car as he tried to escape to Murang'a.

The killer weapon, a kitchen knife, was recovered from the house.

The suspect was Monday expected in court where police planned to ask for more days to enable them complete their probe into the murder.

The two are said to have quarrelled in the house leading to the fatal stabbing.

The neighbours heard the woman scream for help and rushed there only to find her in a pool of blood and rushed her to hospital, where she succumbed to the injuries.

The body is lying in the mortuary pending an autopsy, police said.
