The process of picking the next Siaya public service board chairman has begun in earnest.
On Wednesday, Governor James Orengo set in motion the process of replacing Dr Elijah Achoch who died in office in April this year.
Achoch, a distinguished career civil servant who also headed the national police service commission as CEO, was appointed into the position by Orengo's predecessor Cornell Rasanga in March 2020.
Upon his demise in April, Dr. Margaret Oloo moved in to act as the chairman.
The late Achoch from Alego Usonga Constituency took over the office of the chairman from former Gem MP Joe Donde.
On Wednesday, Governor Orengo nominated a five-member panel that will oversee the process of getting the new county public service board chairman.
Members of the selection panel chaired by Willis Ayieko will however get approval from the county assembly before they can embark on the process of recruitment of the new board chairman.
Nominated members include Prof Rose Anyango Omollo, Emma Maumo, Francis Ochun'g, and Kennedy Opiyo.
In a press statement issued by the director of the governor's press service Ben Agina, Orengo also unveiled a list of members of an ad hoc nominating committee that will select directors of Siaya-Bondo Water and Water Sanitation Limited ( SIBO).
The governor nominated seven people to the ad hoc Committee.
The water company has been having problems with the water supply to meet the demand of the Siaya County residents.
Those nominated by the governor include Dr Debra Otieno ( chairman), and Prof Jackline Oduol ( member).
Oduol is also the CEC in charge of water. Others include county secretary Joseph Ogutu, Edwin Josiah, journalist Linda Ogutu, Isiah Adipo and Matthew Omondi Oluoch who served as one of Rasanga's advisors.
