Governor Jonathan Bii and PS for Immigration Julius Bitok who both vied for the top seat in Uasin Gishu county in the August 2022 elections have agreed to end bitter rivalry and focus on serving the public.

The two met during a fundraiser for SDA church Ziwa on Saturday.

They declared that they would join hands to work for the residents of the county and other Kenyans because the last election was no longer a concern for the public.

“I want to ask Governor Bii that he should not have fears that I will go round the county to undermine him.  Even though I believed that I had won the last elections to be governor of Uasin Gishu, I also know that leadership comes from God," Bitok said.

Bitok said what God had decided was final and he would wait for another time but he thanked President William Ruto for appointing him to serve as PS for Immigration and Citizen Services.

“I will do my best to serve Kenyans in that position. I have already made an effort to ensure that the people of Uasin Gishu including some from Ziwa get jobs in government to join other Kenyans in public service," Bitok said.

Bii said he was grateful to residents for electing him and also pledged that he would work with his former rivals to serve residents.

Also present at the event was Kenya Power Company director Vesca Kangogo who also unsuccessfully vied for the Uasin Gishu governor seat.

Others were PS for Interior Raymond Omollo, governors Wisley Rotich( Elgeyo Marakwet) and Hillary Barchok(Bomet).  Others present included host Soy MP David Kiplagat, Kesses MP Julius Ruto and Ainaboi MP Samwel Chepkonga.

Omollo said the government was working to operationalise all new administrative units that had been gazetted within the next six months.

He urged parents to ensure that they take care of children and youth during the upcoming Christmas and New Year festivities.

“Ensure that the youth do not engage in behaviours that risk their lives as we head to the festivities," Omollo said.

PS Omollo and Bitok said they would help build a complex to serve as the Uasin Gishu county headquarters for the national government as part of the legacy projects in the region.
