Construction of 90-bed wards at Luanda Subcounty Hospital at Emuhaya is almost complete.
The facility is expected to expand the provision of health services to residents within Luanda and Emuhaya subcounties.
During inspection, Vihiga Governor Wilber Ottichilo said the facility would ease congestion of patients at Vihiga County Referral Hospital.
The county chief said the hospital will be equipped with modern medical equipment, enough drugs and enough health staff hired to ensure patients receive quality health services.
“Once we achieve this, there will be no need of our county residents travelling outside to seek medical services,” Ottichilo said.
Already, Luanda Subcounty Hospital has been equipped with modern theatre, ultrasound machines, X-Ray laboratory, a well-equipped orthopaedic laboratory and dental unit.
“My administration has already sent three surgeons in this facility who are conducting various surgical operations, including prostate cancer,” he said.
“The facility has a machine that screens heart-related complications and the an oxygen plant that produces huge volume of oxygen for Intensive care Unit operation.”
The county chief said the facility has an incinerator machine that burns waste materials at high temperatures until they are reduced to ashes.
The governor lauded the Emuhaya hospital management, led by Human Resource director Salome Omulele for a wonderful job.
Ottichilo said through Omulele the facility has witnessed quality service delivery to patients and good team work in offering services within the facility.
The governor also said his administration has invested a lot in health to ensure people get health services close to them, adding that his administration is targeting to construct the same facilities in all five subcounties in Vihiga county.
