It is a sigh of relief to Bungoma County after a United States of America (USA) sponsor launched an orphanage school in the Kabuchai Constituency.

Speaking to the press on Monday during the launch, Joel Chalders said he decided to support Bungoma with the orphanage that will offer avenues to learners to get education.

He said that Mana Academy in Kabuchai will bring love and hope to the orphans.

“We have basically established this centre to help orphans get education for free,” he said.

However, Chalders said the school will not only offer education opportunities to orphans but also to bright but needy learners in the Western region.

“This school will not only admit learners from Bungoma but also from other parts of the Western region, It will also act as a guiding and counselling centre for stressed children,” he said.

He added that Mana Academy has brought smiles to the face of orphans noting that the school has already started admitting learners from the community.

On his part, Mana Academy’s director in Kenya, Henry Musundi, lauded the USA based sponsor arguing that the school has seen tremendous growth due to the support.

“We started this school in January this year after realizing that orphans in our community aren’t accessing quality education and some are left at home from the support,” Musundi added.

Musundi noted that currently, Mana Academy has a total of 5 teachers and it is running up to grade three affirming that it will partner with Sanandiki primary school to take those who finish grade three courses.

“We have plans to extend and buy land so that we can construct other classes,” he said.

He said that the school will also nurture the learners' talents by ensuring that they participate in co-curricular activities.

He noted that currently, the school is supporting 100 learners from the neighboring community adding that he intends to increase the number.
