Namachanja High School in Bungoma South subcounty in Bungoma county has posted excellent results in the 2023 KCSE results released on Monday by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.
CS Machogu while speaking at Moi Girls High School in Uasin Gishu County said that a total of 903,260 candidates were registered for the National exams.
Speaking to the press at the school premises, Humphrey Musuya, deputy Principal of Administration at Namachanja High School, applauded the parents, teachers and support staff for the overwhelming support to ensure that the school shines in the National exams.
“This is not the first A plain we are posting in the National exam, but posting A’s before last year was a tough one but we have managed to post an A again,” Musuya said.
Musuya added that the top candidate at the school got an A plain of 82 points.
Ian Makali, the student who topped the school with an A (plain) attributed his success to hard work, determination and prayer.
Makali said that he wishes to join Moi University and pursue his dream of becoming a doctor.
“This achievement has not come freely. It is about hard work, determination and prayer, I thank my teachers and parents for their support,” he said.
However, he said being a day school they experience extreme challenges and he urged students to work much harder and realise their dreams.
“Students in day schools face diverse challenges but don’t give up, attending day school doesn’t mean that you won’t excel,” he said.
The deputy principal also stated that the current capitation to schools by the central government is less urging the government to increase it for the smooth running of schools.
The school principal Hellen Anyanga in her address lauded the students for their good performance stating that she will continue offering support for better performance.
Another school that has performed well is Bungoma Friends School Kamusinga (FSK) which had a total of 463 candidates.
