President William Ruto on Thursday inspected the guard of honour for the first time since he was sworn in.
The inspection took place at the parliament building ahead of the 13th House inaugural speech.
He was accompanied by First Lady Mama Rachel.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was also present.
Ruto is expected to unveil his plan for the first 100 days of his administration.
A notice by Speakers of the bicameral parliament said the President will preside over the opening of the two houses: the Senate and National Assembly.
