President William Ruto on Thursday received his Eritrean counterpart Isaias Afwerki at State House, Nairobi.
The two will hold bilateral talks centered around areas of mutual interest and revamping ties between the two ties.
They will also hold discussions on education, tourism, security and the blue economy.
Afwerki jetted into the country on Wednesday morning and was received by Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua.
The President is in the country on a two-day official visit at the invitation of his host President Ruto.
Isaias last visited Kenya on December 15, 2018, after strained ties that followed accusations by Kenya in 2011 that Eritrea was supplying arms to al Shabaab in Somalia.
Ruto visited the country in December 2022 following the renewed ties and Thursday's bilateral talks are expected to cement the new friendship.
