Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja on Tuesday flagged off health products and other supplies to all the health facilities within the county.

The consignment from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority worth Sh244 million comes after three years of dry medicine shelves in county hospitals.

The commodities flagged off comprised 70 per cent of the essential commodities (commodities commonly used), 20 per cent of vital commodities - for emergencies and 10 per cent of small equipment and linen.

The consignment which is in two batches targets all 118 recipient facilities.

The subcounty commodity security teams will also render any logistical and technical support needed on the day of delivery.

At least 22 facilities received the commodities on the same day. They include Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, Pumwani Maternity Hospital and Mbagathi Hospital.
