President William Ruto gifted flowers as he arrives at Burundi for East Africa community (EAC) heads of state on May 31.

President William Ruto on Tuesday arrived in Bujumbura,  Burundi, for the East African Community heads of states summit.

During the summit, major decisions on the current security situation in Eastern DRC are expected to be made.

The 21st extraordinary meeting comes following a similar meeting of the EAC Council of Ministers which brought together permanent or principal secretaries responsible for regional cooperation from the seven member states.

The crisis meetings come against the backdrop of threats from the Congolese government to have the EAC regional force (EACRF) leave the country by June 1.
