Jua Kali business ravaged by fire amidst intense protest in Kisumu County on July 12, 2023.

Jua Kali traders in Kisumu have suffered losses after a fire broke out during demonstrations.

Property of an unknown amount was destroyed including cars parked nearby and business stalls.

They however succeeded to salvage some of their items.

The traders have blamed the anti-riot police officers for the fire.

Those who spoke to the media claimed the teargas canisters lobbed their way ignited the fire. 

Firefighters and police water cannons arrived at the scene to help extinguish the fire.
