The National Police Service has invited Kenyans to give their opinions through a public participation exercise regarding the proposed police uniform.
Making the announcement on Tuesday, NPS said: "The National Police Service kindly invites the public to participate in the selection process for the proposed Kenya Police Service uniform."
IG Japhet Koome and a few junior officers donned the new uniform first on February 13.
Other units in the NPS will maintain their current uniforms.
They include the Administration Police Service and General Service Unit who use jungle ones.
This comes amid a push to revert to the old uniform for the service from the current deep blue one.
The task force on the improvement of the conditions of service of the NPS and KPS has been collecting views on among others the uniform issue.
The National Police Service Commission told the task force it wants police to revert to the old uniform for general duty officers. The deep blue uniform was introduced in 2019.
They said that the police uniform was not gender-responsive to women police officers during pregnancy, and it was not provided for under the current uniform arrangement.
The Commission recommended a maternity dress allowance of Sh30,000 during pregnancy.
Police had been told they were free to wear the old khaki uniform, which had been phased out since 2018.
Former Chief Justice David Maraga is chairing a 23-member task force that was established to steer reforms in police and prisons.
