President William Ruto on Friday laid the foundation Stone for Urenga Hospital.

The hospital once completed will open up health services and make them accessible to locals in the region.

It will be a four-storey level 4 hospital.

Ruto said his government is committed to delivering quality and affordable medical care to every Kenyan as envisioned in our Plan.

"Long-term investments in health will improve patient care and enhance disease surveillance and prevention across the country," he said.

The President was accompanied by Siaya Governor James Orengo, Health CS Susan Nakhumicha, Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, David Ochieng’ (Ugenya) and Caroli Omondi (Suba South).

Others were Gideon Ochanda (Bondo) and Mark Nyamita (Uriri), Mathias Robi (Kuria West), Marwa Kitayama (Kuria East), John Makali (Kanduyi), Eric Muchangi (Runyenjes), John Kiarie (Dagoretti South) a host of MCAs and other leaders.

In addition to that, Ruto gave Sh100 million to the Ugenya Level 4 Hospital which will be constructed in partnership with the county government.

"Because I'm here and I'm the boss, I will give Sh100 million, and because Orengo has added Sh50 million, we shall now build a four-storey level 4 hospital," Ruto said.

The President promised that his administration would work with Siaya County to also equip the facility once completed in the next four months.

Ruto also donated Sh5 million to the Ugenya Medical College and a similar amount to Inungo Primary School while he handed another Sh3 million to Urenga Primary School.

The President said he will return to Siaya County in December to launch the Affordable Housing project that will see the construction of 5,000 housing units.
