The National Dialogue Committee has agreed on three issues that formed part of the agenda of the talks between Azimio la Umoja coalition and Kenya Kwanza.

The items agreed on are Two-thirds gender rule, the establishment of Prime CS and office of leader of the Opposition and the fidelity of political parties.

The agreement comes after weeks of meetings between President William Ruto's team led by National Assembly leader Kimani Ichung'wah and Raila Odinga's faction under Kalonzo Musyoka's stewardship at the Bomas of Kenya.

Each side had presented a list of agenda items which were to be agreed on during the talks.

The Kenya Kwanza issues included reconstitution of the IEBC, implementation of the two-thirds gender rule, entrenchment of Constituency Development Fund, establishment and the entrenchment of the Office of the Leader of the Opposition and embedment of the Office of Prime Cabinet Secretary.

Azimio, on the other hand, had named the cost of living, audit of the 2022 presidential election results, restructuring and reconstitution of the IEBC, inclusivity and fidelity of opposition political parties.

Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa were absent on the Azimio side.

Members who were present included Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruyiot and EALA MP Hassan Omar of Kenya Kwanza.

The ten-man committee has 60 days to finalise its work.
